Identifying and disconnecting the 12V battery is a priority for the on-site rescue team.

3. In some hybrid / electric vehicles (not all vehicles), disconnecting the 12V battery will insulate the high voltage ( HV ) system

It is very important to operate the power system in the vehicle as required before disconnecting the 12V battery, such as:

1 、Power operated parking brake

2 , power seat

3 , power windows

4. Power operated convertible roof

5 , power steering lever adjuster

6 , the door brake mechanism, the vehicle's trunk and hood

Handling these systems before disconnecting will make the creation of space easier and reduce on-site processing time.

key point:

1 , first remove the negative terminal (usually black). If possible, disconnect with a wrench to prevent arcing. If possible, cut some cables to prevent accidental reconnection.

2. If it is impossible to find and insulate the battery (vehicle on the top of the ground), all persons must be informed and rescue personnel must be aware of the increased risk on site.

3. Remember that 40% of the vehicles' batteries are not under the hood. Therefore, it is still possible to find and disconnect the battery for the vehicle on the roof.

4. Also, some new cars will automatically disconnect the 12V battery during a collision , but this does not mean that the above-listed power systems cannot be used.

! Remember - In some cases, disconnecting the battery leads prevents reconnection when needed, which is part of the accident investigation and communicates with the on-site police the best way to disconnect the 12V battery.
