Apple's new patent: charging the device with solar energy

Recently, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted Apple a new patent, mainly to use solar panel technology on small-screen devices such as the iPhone and the iPod.

According to the introduction, the patent can combine the touch sensor with solar energy. It can use solar cells in the screen, that is, the electrode material used can be used as a solar cell or a touch sensor. The vision of Apple is to use technology in handheld devices such as media players or mobile phones.

If the technology comes true, Apple device users can use solar energy to charge. This is not the first time Apple has explored solar technology. In the past few years, Apple has also applied for four solar-related technologies.

It sounds wonderful to use solar energy for smart phones, but don't expect it to happen soon. After all, a patent application does not mean that Apple will use the technology. The cost of solar technology is still high.
