According to media reports, in recent years, extreme weather has frequently appeared. Climate change is threatening the local animals, plants and ecosystems in various ways. In particular, global warming is the most serious.
A study conducted by Florida State University shows that the global warming of the land surface over the past 100 years has accurately demonstrated when different regions of the world will begin to cool or warm. This study shows that the entire world is indeed warming, but records show that the rate of warming varies from place to place.
The climate research team led by Meteorological Professor Wu Zhaohua used the newly developed analytical tools to test the global warming trend of the land surface except Antarctica since 1900. The study found that significant warming began in areas around the Arctic Circle, as well as in the subtropical regions of the northern and southern hemispheres. At present, the largest cumulative warming occurs in the mid-latitudes of the northern hemisphere. They also found that there are cooling trends in certain parts of the earth.
This shows that global warming is not uniform. Some areas have become warmer in some areas. Although most parts of the world are warming, some areas in the southern part of the equator near the Andes are actually getting colder. Other areas near the equator and south of the equator have hardly changed significantly compared to the rest of the world.
The scientific community believes that global warming has little effect on species in the tropics. However, some new studies have shown that climate change not only threatens polar bears and other species that are adapted to survive in cold regions, but also puts those species that live in warmer areas at risk.
Rapid changes will perturb the operation of biological systems on Earth, forcing species to either move, stay, and try under the right climate conditions to adapt to the new climate or to extinction. Since the tropics are the habitat of most species and low-income people, reducing greenhouse gas emissions is the only way to protect these species and local people.
This work shows that we are expelling the world's ecosystems from environments that may not be able to deal with evolution to a whole new state. Extinction is probably the result. Some ecosystems may be able to adapt, but for others, it is not only individual species that are lost, it may be their completeness.
