Aluminate cement main raw materials and characteristics

Aluminate cement is a hydraulic binder made of bauxite and limestone as raw materials, calcined to obtain clinker with calcium aluminate as main component and alumina content of about 50%. Aluminate cements are often yellow or brown and are also gray. The main mineral of aluminate cement is calcium monocalcium phosphate (CaO·al2O3, abbreviated as Ca) and other aluminates, and a small amount of dicalcium silicate (2CaO·SiO2).

According to the national standard (GB201-2000): the density and bulk density of aluminate cement are similar to ordinary Portland cement. Its fineness is ≤20% of the specific surface area ≥300m2/kg or 45μm sieve residue. Aluminate cement is divided into four types: Ca-50, Ca-60, Ca-70, and Ca-80. The setting time and strength of each type of cement should not be lower than the standard.

Aluminate cements include calcium aluminate, barium aluminate, and barium zirconate alumina. Among them, barium aluminate cement has the characteristics of fast hardness, high strength and high refractoriness.
