The Sinopec Huadong Branch’s “50-million-cubic-meter capacity development and development program for the Yanchuan South CBM Field†recently passed expert review. This marked the start of the expansion of coalbed methane in the south of Yanchuan. According to the plan, the Yanchuan South CBM field will form an annual production capacity of 500 million cubic meters by the end of next year and become the first CBM field of Sinopec. The Yanchuan South coalbed gas field is located at the junction of Xiangning County in Shanxi Province and Hancheng City in Shaanxi Province. In April 2010, the first exploration well in Well No. 1 was drilled for production. The highest daily gas production was 2632 cubic meters. Since then, a number of experimental wells have been put into operation, such as Yan 1 Well, Yan 3 Well, Yan 5 Well, etc., and currently produce more than 40,000 cubic meters of gas each day.
