According to Jiang Bingrong, Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Branch of the National Development and Reform Commission, the proportion of lighting electricity in the country’s total electricity consumption is increasing. In 2010, electricity for lighting has accounted for 13% of the electricity consumption in China's entire society. Therefore, electricity for lighting has become an important part of China's energy conservation and climate change response in the future.

In recent years, the continuous emergence of new lighting technologies and new products at home and abroad, and the increasing lighting efficiency, have also provided technical and economical guarantees for lighting and energy saving. With the continuous development of science and technology, the traditional incandescent lamp market is gradually being replaced by new energy sources such as energy-saving lamps, especially LED lamps.

Under the support of “China's phase-out of incandescent lamps and accelerated promotion of energy-saving light projects”, the National Energy Conservation Center has developed 10 best practice examples of efficient lighting energy-saving technologies based on in-depth research and special argumentation. These cases include: "Application of high-power LED stage lighting in Chang'an Grand Theatre", "Application of LED self-dimming lamps in public area lighting", "Application of high-efficiency and energy-saving lamps in Tsinghua Tongfang Zhiwang Building".

During the development of the case, the National Energy Conservation Center attached great importance to the advanced nature of the technology and the potential for energy saving. This year's “Best Practice Case for High-efficiency Lighting Power Saving Technology” was announced. There were five cases involving LED lighting, accounting for the total number of cases. half. Other technologies, such as ceramic metal halide lamps and high-efficiency lighting fixtures, are also the most advanced lighting energy-saving technologies currently available, and are in line with the promotion of the country's future lighting and energy-saving technologies. These cases are of important reference for guiding users to adopt efficient lighting energy-saving technologies and promote the progress of lighting energy-saving technologies.
