Therefore, this testing process, or what we call "manufacturing must", has gradually become more than just a requirement but a market. More and more equipment suppliers, hardware and software providers, etc. are paying attention to this market, strengthening investment in this market, and launching better and more comprehensive solutions. Let's start with the traditional testing process:

First, the finished product inspection of a product is generally carried out on equipment such as a three-coordinate measuring machine (CMM), but what if the final measurement result is not satisfactory?

Secondly, it is difficult to make a staged rework decision during the machining process, because the parts are clamped on the machine tool, and each process and step in the machining process, especially on the CNC machine tool, from roughing to semi-finishing to fine Processing is continuous and without intermediate testing. Once the processing is completed, it is found that a waste product is processed, and the consumption of materials, money and time cannot be recovered.

On the other hand, even with conventional manual testing, the results depend to a large extent on the level of proficiency of the measurer. For manual measurements with complex profile parts or molds, the number of points taken by manual measurements is extremely small and cannot be reflected at all. The problem with measuring the condition of the part is the increase in the amount of inspection work and the time it takes. In fact, this measurement cannot be completed.

Based on this inspection requirement, Delcam has introduced its "OMV - On Machine Verification" module on PowerINSPECT software, which fundamentally solves this problem.

OMV is an off-line programming software system for automated measurement of freeform surfaces and geometry used on CNC machine tools. It enables workers to make "wise" decisions on whether to continue or rework during the manufacturing process before the parts are removed from the CNC machine during the machining process!
